Piney Lakes Reserve

Location: Corner of Murdoch Dr and Leach Hwy Winthrop
Public transport access: There are several buses going down Leach Hwy
Parking: Plenty of parking off Murdoch Drive and off Leach Hwy
Toilets: Yes but there were no lights and toilet paper when we went so be prepared
BBQ: Yes

Tables and chairs: A few picnic tables though none near the BBQ and a few benches scattered around the park

Paths: Several suitable for riding, jogging and walking

Water features: A lake and a gentle waterfall
Special features: This park is pretty popular and it is easy to see why. There is a huge variety in the playground from a wooden ship submerged in sand to a flexible plastic climbing frame, just to mention some. It is picturesque with ducks and frogs in abundance. There is also plenty of lawn and bush areas to explore.

Sir Frederick Samson Park

Location: Corner of McCombe Av and Sellenger Av
Public transport access: Yes the 511 bus runs down McCombe Ave

Tables and chairs: One picnic table near the BBQ (which needs repairing as one of the seats broke under Ash) and a few benches scattered around the park

Paths: Several through the bushland suitable walking

Summerville Park

Location: Corner of Stanley Gr and Ten Seldam Cir Winthrop
Public transport access: The 504 and the 511 go down Summerville Blvd which runs past the park
Parking: Plenty of parking on Ten Seldam Cir

Drink Fountain: one
Bins: three
Tables and chairs: Two picnic tables near the BBQ and a few benches scattered around the park
Undercover areas: There is a nice gazebo
Paths: Several suitable for riding or jogging

Bakers Square

Location: Corner of Weavell St and Ommanney St Hamilton Hill
Public transport access: No buses directly to the park.
Parking: Seven bays
Toilets: No
BBQ: Yes but needs a good clean
Drink Fountain: Two
Bins: Two
Tables and chairs: One picnic table and a few benches scattered around the park
Undercover areas: There is a nice undercover area with benches
Paths: None

Playground features
Age: All
Sand or rubber: Sand
Basketball hoop: No
Soccer goals: Yes
Swings: Yes

Water features: None
Special features: There is two sets of play equipment at this park, one for the under threes and one for the older kids. They are close together enough that parents can keep an eye on kids on both playgrounds simultaneously. There is lots of trees providing nice shade area's. There are also netball courts but it looks like they are under lock and key when not in use by the netball club.

Hargreaves Park

Location: Corner of Counsel Rd and Hargreaves Rd Coolbellup

Undercover areas: There is a nice little gazebo with picnic tables and benches
Paths: Winding paths for walking or riding

Swings: Yes

Water features: None
Special features: There is two sets of play equipment at this park, one for the under threes and one for the older kids. This is handy if you have an under three who isn't able to hold there own amongst the older kids, and may save a few knocks and tumbles. They are close together enough that parents can keep an eye on kids on both playgrounds simultaneously. It also has sweet little scattered area's of bushland, amongst the wide expanse of lawn, which attract some of the most beautiful birds.

Moorni Boorn Park

Location: Corner of Rennie Cres. North and Paget St. Hilton

Undercover areas: Small area on the side on the playground and the top part of the playground itself

Age: Arguably for the 3 and up crowd but my 2 year old managed with assistance

Special features: What this park lacks in amenities such as BBQ's and toilets it makes up for in design. There is a great wide stone slide which is fun for the adults and children alike. There is an interesting pulley system which allows kids to pull sand up to the top level and let it down wooden "tubing". There is a talkie tube disguised as a simple rail and a rubber bridge which proved great fun.
